If the concrete or asphalt in your driveway is cracked then there are probably little blades of grass poking their way through it. You should probably work on getting rid of it before those weeds grow out of hand. We’ve got the scoop on getting that grass out of there before it starts more trouble. Let’s check it out.
Kill the grass!
The best thing to begin with is to remove the grass altogether. This can be accomplished in a variety of ways. You can go out onto your driveway and remove the grass by hand. You can also purchase some weed killer and douse the grass in it. Now, this is not always the best option because weed killer is full of harmful chemicals that can create a hazardous environment for local wildlife or pets. If you want a more natural solution, then you can try boiling water mixed with a little salt. You simply mix it up and pour it over the problem areas. Once you’ve done that, you can cover the cracks with baking soda so that the seedlings won’t continue to come back. Leave your baking soda to work for two days. Once you’ve done that, it’s time for the next step.
Cover the cracks!
The best way to keep grass from growing in the cracks of your concrete or asphalt is to not have any cracks! You can seal up a few cracks here and there yourself, but you should consider having your driveway repaired in a more lasting way as soon as possible. We have talked about the benefits of our infrared repair system, if you’d like to get a clearer picture of what that is like. We can also seal the cracks for you, or even just repave the whole driveway.
