An asphalt driveway will usually last only up to thirty years. On average, residential asphalt driveways only last between fifteen and thirty years. If you have lived with the same driveway for that span of time or know how old your driveway is otherwise, then it might be time for a new driveway.

Potholes

Old asphalt driveways will eventually develop potholes. These potholes can be shallow or deep, wide or narrow. They develop when water seeps into the sublayers and causes a cavity due to the freeze-thaw cycle. A pothole can be dangerous for anyone walking or driving on your driveway.
